Statutory Sick Pay UK Rebate Scheme Reinstalled

As coronavirus cases remain on the rise, the Government has decided to reintroduce the Statutory Sick Pay UK rebate scheme in mid-January 2022. In preparation for applications, the team at FPM is on hand to prepare employers ahead of the support scheme relaunch.

Who is eligible to claim for Statutory Sick Pay UK ?

To claim for the Statutory Sick Pay UK, employers must be UK-based and employ less than 250 staff. If an employer does not meet these requirements, then they will not be eligible to claim.

Providing these requirements are met, employers will be able to claim back money for periods of employee sickness, due to coronavirus, beginning on or after Tuesday 21st December 2021.

Before applying for SSP, make sure to check your employee’s eligibility for the claim. If the employee is eligible, employers will be able to claim back up to two weeks SSP per employee (£192.70).

How to claim Statutory Sick Pay UK :

The claims portal will not go live until mid-January. However, in preparation to claim make sure you have:

  • Government Gateway user ID and password
  • Employer PAYE reference number
  • The number of employees in the claim
  • Start and end dates of the claim period
  • The total amount of sick pay being claimed back – this should not exceed two weeks per employee @ £96.35 per week
  • Employer UK bank or building society account details

Remember: All records must be kept for three years after the date of claim.
